The Department of State Growth is seeking to appoint a Senior Agribusiness and Commercial Analyst with strong commercial analytical skills from a banking and or finance background to:

  • With minimal supervision, assess and provide recommendations on financial assistance proposals from businesses in a broad range of industry sectors. Key tasks include:
    • Effectively and proactively liaise with businesses and other internal and external stakeholders.
    • Analysis of business plans and financial statements.
    • Analysis and preparation of financial models.
    • Undertaking business and industry research.
    • Undertaking business risk assessments.
    • Assessment of business viability and feasibility of new projects.
    • Consideration of the cost benefit of financial assistance within a government policy context.
    • Applying critical thinking to assessments and make appropriate recommendations based on the analysis undertaken. 
    • Preparation and presentation of financial assistance submissions for consideration by the Tasmanian Development and Resources Board.
  • Undertake day-to-day and post loan activities such as progressing drawdowns, annual review of facilities and reporting.
  • Provide advice and support to the team and other departmental staff in relation to the provision of financial assistance and support for Tasmanian businesses.
  • Work in partnership with other business units across the department and across government on financial risk analysis matters.
  • Prepare regular reports and analysis of industry and business assistance activities, including sectoral reporting and post assistance reviews.
  • Prepare correspondence, ministerial responses, briefing notes, Ministerial minutes and other reports as required.
  • Assist with the ongoing development, delivery and review of the department’s financial assistance to industry policies and procedures.

Desirable Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, accounting or other appropriate discipline.
  • Relevant experience in a commercial environment with emphasis on financial analysis, banking, finance and agribusiness.
  • Current Drivers licence.
