Your new role
The purpose of the position is to aid the further development of the organisation’s ICT group. Playing a key part of the delivery for end-to-end solutions of ICT infrastructure, you’ll become a product champion across wired, wireless and security vendors, assist in technical support and develop client and supplier relationships.

What you'll need to succeed
Knowledge and experience of network administration and integration are critical to this role. You’ll have demonstrated expertise across the ICT sector including but not limited to, network design, switch hardware and configuration, wireless network design and deployment, familiarity with ICT security principals. Exposure to Linux based operating systems, Windows (Windows 10 and recent Windows Server releases), Hypervisors (Vmware, Hyper-V), AWS and Azure Cloud solutions.

Additional requirements include:

  • Tertiary qualification (Certificate IV, Diploma or Degree) in Information Technology or related area, or relevant job experience.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in reading technical documentation and specifications.
  • Strong analytical skills to aid in problem resolution
  • Display careful attention to detail and a capacity to prioritise, meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with management and customers.

Desired:

  • Experience with VoIP (on prem and cloud)
  • Experience with Active Directory / LDAP
  • Experience with varying vendor Firewalls (WAF, Snort, Filtering, Application Control etc.)
  • Office 365 including SharePoint and OneDrive

Period of Appointment

2 years.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • Provide daily business system support services, including advice on issues associated with Agency business systems and projects with information management and technology components.
  • Manage the changes to corporate business applications through established change and release management processes, while effectively and harmoniously liaising between Business Unit representatives, Application Developers and ICT Services staff.
  • Perform System testing and coordinate structured User Acceptance testing.
  • In consultation with stakeholders, develop Business System Management plans for the Department’s business systems and support those systems in accordance with these plans.
  • Coordinate contractors providing third-level support and monitor associated Service Levels.
  • Develop and implement complex reports based on data recorded in business information systems.
  • Develop and deliver training in the use of business information systems to local system administrators and develop and maintain system management procedures, troubleshooting articles and associated documentation.
  • Perform any other assigned duties that are at classification level and within the employee’s competence and training.

Desirable Requirements

  • Bachelor of Information Systems or Bachelor of Business majoring in Information Systems and/or at least 5 years of experience in a similar or relevant role.

  • Experience in SQL Server Management Studio, T-SQL, Reporting Services, data-driven Excel reports, pivot tables, Crystal Reporting & Web technologies, Business Analysis, Software Development Lifecycle.

As a Communication Systems Operator, you’ll be part of the Army’s advanced ICT team always looking to the future—the Signallers.

Your role is to plan, design and manage the Army’s vital communication networks, where you’ll operate cutting-edge technology such as satellite terminals, radios and advanced security equipment. You’ll ensure messages can be transmitted to anywhere around the world 24/7 and help keep the Army connected.

Salary:
In the Army you'll get paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications. Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $50,145 per annum and your pay will increase as you progress through training.

On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $70,417 per annum plus generous super.
