About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our Patient Food Service team.

The role involves:

  • Serving Meals and Beverages to patients

  • Following meal reports and work schedules

  • Tray assembly according to meal tickets

  • Cleaning and Washing up responsibilities

The position requires:

  • Attention to detail

  • Previous experience in hospitality

  • Good communication and customer service skills

  • Flexibility to cover shifts over 7 days

  • Punctuality

  • Able to follow instructions and food safety principle

Your Opportunity

Be part of the passionate hospitality team at Stuart Lodge - a specialist homelessness service in Alice Springs for individuals and families who are at risk of, or currently experiencing, homelessness. In this role, you will have the opportunity to assist in providing our clients with one of the most important necessities; a good hearty meal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation, cooking and service of meals for the service
  • Monitor levels of supplies and the inventory list
  • Ensure the maintenance of required level of hygiene within the kitchen and dining areas
  • Where required, pick up the duties of the cook (higher duties rates will apply)
  • Provide service of meals to the clients and clean up duties at closing

Requirements for Success

  • Experience in a similar environment (casual dining, serving nutritious and hearty meals)
  • A good understanding of theoretical and practical food safety handling
  • Qualifications in WHS and Food Handling (desirable)
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a team environment
  • Good communications skills
  • The ability to take on cook duties where required (experience as a cook is desirable)
  • The utmost integrity in the workplace per Mission Australia’s values
  • The availability to work shift work and within short notice
  • A current and valid Working With Children Check for NT

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
